“Should I choose WoolWax or Waxoyl?”

The answer depends on your vehicle.

WoolWax and Waxoyl are both professional corrosion protection systems, but they work differently and are best suited to different vehicle conditions, ownership goals and budgets.

We don’t believe every vehicle should receive the same rustproofing treatment, and we don’t automatically recommend the most expensive package.

Our goal is to inspect your vehicle, understand how you use it and how long you plan to keep it, and recommend the level of protection that actually makes sense.

The Simple Answer

Choose WoolWax if:

• Your vehicle already has some existing surface corrosion
• The vehicle has been driven through multiple Ontario winters
• You want excellent protection with a lower initial investment
• You prefer a serviceable coating that can be maintained and touched up over time
• The condition or value of the vehicle doesn’t justify extensive restoration or preparation
• You want a highly durable lanolin-based coating for an everyday vehicle

Consider Waxoyl if:

• Your vehicle is new or in excellent condition
• You want a clean, long-term corrosion protection system
• You plan to keep the vehicle for many years
• You’re willing to invest more in initial preparation and application
• You want a cured underbody coating combined with dedicated cavity protection
• Maximum long-term preservation is the goal

Neither product is automatically “better.” The better system is the one that suits the vehicle.

WoolWax

Flexible, Serviceable Protection for Vehicles of All Ages

WoolWax is a thick, lanolin-based corrosion protection coating that remains soft and flexible after application.

Rather than curing into a hard coating, WoolWax continues to creep into seams, welds and other corrosion-prone areas while creating a durable barrier against moisture and road salt.

Because WoolWax can be applied to vehicles with existing surface corrosion with less extensive preparation than a cured coating requires, it is often our recommendation for vehicles that have already experienced several Ontario winters.

It is also an excellent option for owners who prefer a lower initial investment with periodic inspection and touch-up maintenance.

Waxoyl

Premium Multi-Year Vehicle Preservation

Waxoyl takes a different approach.

Our Waxoyl system combines two dedicated products to protect both the exposed underbody and hidden internal cavities of the vehicle.

Waxoyl Hardwax is applied to appropriate underbody surfaces, where it cures into a durable, flexible protective coating.

Waxoyl 120-4 Cavity Wax is fogged into areas such as doors, rocker panels, frame cavities, seams and other enclosed areas where corrosion can begin out of sight.

Because the Hardwax cures rather than remaining wet, surface preparation becomes especially important.

For this reason, we most commonly recommend Waxoyl for newer vehicles, exceptionally clean used vehicles, or vehicles where the owner is willing to invest in the additional preparation required before application.

Why Don’t We Just Recommend Waxoyl to Everyone?

Because the most expensive service isn’t always the right service.

Consider two completely different vehicles.

A brand-new truck that the owner plans to keep for the next 10–15 years may be an excellent candidate for extensive preparation, disassembly and long-term Waxoyl protection.

A 10-year-old daily driver with existing corrosion may not benefit from spending thousands of dollars trying to return the underbody to near-new condition before applying a cured coating.

In that situation, properly preparing the vehicle where necessary and applying WoolWax may provide far better value while still delivering meaningful corrosion protection.

We believe good vehicle preservation is about making an appropriate recommendation, not selling every customer the biggest package.

What About Existing Rust?

Existing corrosion doesn’t automatically mean it’s too late to protect your vehicle.

It does, however, affect how we approach the job.

Depending on the condition of the vehicle, preparation options can include:

• Salt-neutralizing underbody cleaning
• Frame flushing
• Heavy cleaning and degreasing
• Removal of loose dirt and contamination
• Mechanical rust descaling
• Removal of previous undercoatings where required
• Removal of wheels, skid plates, underbody panels or fender liners for improved access

Some vehicles need very little preparation.

Others require considerably more.

We’ll help determine what work is actually worthwhile based on the condition and value of the vehicle.

Has corrosion already started, or are we protecting clean factory surfaces?

Previous rustproofing
Existing oil sprays, coatings and contamination can affect what preparation is required.

Winter use
A year-round daily driver faces different conditions than a summer or collector vehicle.

How long you plan to keep it
The right investment for three more years of ownership may be different from protecting a new vehicle for the next fifteen.

Vehicle value
We don’t believe in recommending thousands of dollars of unnecessary preparation on a vehicle where a simpler treatment would provide better value.

Your budget and expectations
We can offer different levels of preparation and protection without compromising our recommendation.
